Min Yoo-ngi is a Grammy-nominated rapper, producer, and songwriter who rose to prominence in 2015. He is a member of the award-winning and platinum-selling boyband BTS, going by the name Suga. In 2016, he released his debut self-titled mixtape as his alter ego, Agust D. The record was first launched through Soundcloud and later re-released in 2018. The effort, which spawned the title track and “Give It To Me,” debuted on Billboard’s World Albums chart, peaking at number 3. The album reportedly has been in the making since Yoo-ngi was 13. At 17 years old, he began recording and producing tracks.
In 2020, Yoo-ngi dropped his sophomore mixtape, D-2. The album gained worldwide acclaim and entered four US Billboard charts. D-2 topped the World albums and Independent Albums, peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200, and 9 on the Top Rap Albums chart. These achievements made headlines as he is reportedly the first Korean to land in the top 10 on the Rap Albums chart. The record spawned the hit single “Daechwita,” in which the coinciding music video has amassed over 400 million views.
