Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu is a critically-acclaimed Nigerian music artist. The singer-songwriter used to create his own beats using an entry-level music-producing app, FL studio. After years of experimenting with music, he finally emerged professionally as Burna Boy and released his debut album, L.I.F.E, in 2013. On its first day, the album sold 40,000 copies thanks to its notable hits, “Like to Party,” “Tonight,” “Run My Race,” “Always Love You,” and “Yawa Dey.” After his impressive breakthrough in his home country, Burna Boy released several more highly-acclaimed albums. In 2019, he finally made his international breakthrough with African Giant. The fourth studio effort entered Canada and the U.S. charts thanks to the highly-regarded track “On the Low.”
By 2020, Burna Boy has soared through the charts with his fifth studio release, Twice as Tall. The career-defining album, which spawned the hits “Wonderful,” Monsters You Made,” and “Real Life,” topped Billboard’s US World Albus charts and peaked at number 54 on the Billboard 200. The album won Burna Boy his first Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album the following year.
Last year, Burna Boy dropped his latest effort, Love, Damini. The highly-acclaimed work featured performances from renowned artists, such as Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, Khalid, and Kelani. The album’s lead single, “Last Last,” entered the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 44. Meanwhile, the song also topped Billboard’s Afrobeat Songs and peaked at number 2 on the Rhythmic and World Digital Song Sales charts.
